PRECIP TODAY: Precipitation will be winding down later today across the state as a system moves off to the east. Drier air will take hold for a few days before another storm moves in later in the weekend with some rain and snow at that time. Highs today will be in the 30s and 40s. Friday will see readings about the same, with sunshine around so more snow will be melting in many areas Friday.
NEXT SYSTEM: The next storm has been showing a more northern track of late. That would bring more rain than snow to the state Sunday into early Monday. The northwestern counties however may see a wintry mix and then some snow. Amounts will be light when it comes to snow as most of the moisture with the system will be south of the state. Liquid equivalent of a quarter inch or so will be possible with the storm Sunday into early Monday. Cold air will filter in thereafter bringing readings back into the 20s and 30s for highs with lows a few degrees either side of 20.
COLD END: The latter half of February still looks cold across the state at least for mid to late February standards. Some snow is possible as well but no big storms are in the offing as yet toward the middle to latter half of the month.
