WARMING UP: Readings are going to be near to slightly above seasonal levels for this time of year. Highs will vary depending on the amount of snow cover on the ground. Areas that don’t have any or very little, mainly in the western counties will see readings well into the 40s to near 50 in Eastern Nebraska, while eastern counties where snow is more prevalent will see highs in the upper 20s to middle 30s.

SYSTEMS THIS WEEK: Outside a chance of a few flurries or snow showers Tuesday night in the far northeastern counties, the next system will effect the state during the overnight hours Wednesday into Thursday with a bit of snow. Perhaps a dusting to a half inch is possible then. Next one comes this weekend and that one could bring some rain and snow mix dependent on temperatures. We’ll be able to pinpoint that system a little more in detail later in the week.

COLD SHOT AGAIN: GFS has been hinting at another cold wave around the middle of the month. This, if it pans out, would bring readings back into the teens and 20s for highs and lows in the single digits. More snow is likely as well but it’s way too early to determine amounts this far in advance.
