Thunderstorms have developed over the SE part of Iowa. Some of these storms could bring wind gusts to 45 mph and some small hail up to dime sized. One thunderstorm in NE Missouri has been TORNADO warned, but there has been no sighting of a tornado as yet. A New Tornado Watch has been issued in Central Illinois including Peoria, Springfield and Champaign. That watch is in effect until 9am this morning. A Record high was set on Friday in Lamoni and Des Moines. Lamoni reached 57° which broke a 50 year record and Des Moines hit 59° which broke a record set back in 1936. The cold front is moving through the central part of the state and should be through by sunrise. This will eliminate any severe threat there might be by that time.
I note that this is the 1000th post on the Iowa WX Blog and it’s posted on the 6 month anniversary of the blog’s launch.
