Mother Nature brought a late Christmas present to the state last night, freezing rain. Freezing rain amounts were generally light except between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque where amounts were generally between two and three tenths of an inch. Roads are very slippery in those areas as well as in many other areas of the state where the ice wasn’t as heavy. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing later this morning so the ice should be able to melt at that time.
