In the weather, Christmas will be merry and bright (at least the first part of the day), by afternoon the weather will begin to turn sour as a new storm system is expected to move into the region by late Christmas afternoon into Christmas night. Some freezing drizzle may fall across the southern and SW portions of Iowa before spreading northeastward on Friday. Travel could become tricky as people head back to the stores for after christmas deals.
