SNOW CHANCES: A little snow will be exiting the state this morning with another chance coming tomorrow night with another disturbance along the northwesterly flow. Highs today will be in the teens north to near 30 far south with partly to mostly sunny skies. Thursday will see slightly cooler readings with partly sunny skies and increased cloudiness. The accumulations of snow Thursday night will be light with a dusting to perhaps an inch possible in some locales.
REBOUNDING WARMTH: The GFS has been hinting at temperatures getting back above freezing by the latter half of the weekend into next week ahead of the storm that is still on track (not a stable track at that given the last few model runs) that may bring some rain, snow or a mix of the two depending on the amount of cold air at the surface. This would continue into early Monday and then again Tuesday the big storm is possibly going to move in with rain, snow or a mix of the two once again dependent on the amount of cold air at the surface. It’s way too early to determine anything with this system as the models haven’t been too clear with the path as of late. We know there’ll be a storm, we just don’t have it pinpointed down. We may have more answers later this week.
COLD SHOTS: The GFS run is showing some cold shots from the northwest as we go into February. This, if it pans out, would bring readings back into the teens and lower 20s across the state for highs with lows in the single digits above and perhaps below zero as well.
