Along with the Blizzard Watch mentioned earlier, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued by La Crosse and Quad Cities NWS offices. This will go into effect Saturday around midday and be in effect until Sunday afternoon. The counties in the watch include, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Allamakee, Clayton, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Benton, Linn, Jones, Jackson and Clinton. Snowfall of 2-5 inches will be possible with this storm, but it will be the strong NW winds following the precip late Saturday night into Sunday that will be the bigger threat. This will cause dangerous wind chills values below -25°, blowing and drifting snow and near blizzard conditions. Travel will likely not be recommended in the latter half of this weekend.
Also of note a Wind Chill Watch has been issued by the NWS in Omaha for western Iowa. This will be because of the wind and dropping temperatures leading to wind chill values below -20°
