FLURRY ACTIVITY ON THE INCREASE: Some light snow and flurries are possible today across mainly the northern counties of the state. The accumulations will be minimal at best with perhaps a half inch possible. This isn’t likely to cause too many travel issues but be aware that some bridges and overpasses may be a bit tricky during the overnight hours tonight. Highs today will be in the 20s to near 30 across the state.

UP AND DOWN WE GO: The quick moving pattern we’re getting into will bring quick shots of colder and warmer air across the area. Tomorrow we’ll see highs back into the teens to near 20 before rebounding once more by the end of the week to near 30, then dropping again this weekend. Skies are to remain partly to mostly sunny through this time with no real disturbances moving anywhere close to the state.

STORM TO WATCH: By the middle of next week as temperatures warm again, a new storm will be taking shape to our southwest. This will need to be watched closely as this could bring us the next best chance of widespread precipitation to the state. This could be in the form of rain and or snow. It’s too early to determine the type at this time given what time of day the main window of precipitation will occur. It’s just inside the 7-8 window now so we’ll continue to monitor it at this time.

PLUNGING DOWN: At the end of the forecast run, another batch of cold air may drop into the state once again as a ridge pumps up over the west into Canada and the Yukon. This would dislodge the bitterly cold air there south and southeastward into our section of the world. If this would pan out, we’d see readings in the single digits and teens for highs and lows well below zero. However, this may and is likely to change, keep watching.
