NEW YEARS FREEZE: Enjoy the sunshine and warmer temperatures today because a dump of cold air is waiting in the wings to come at us tomorrow through the rest of the week. Highs today will be in the 20s to lower 30s with sunny skies with a few clouds increasing toward the afternoon hours. Monday will see falling temperatures throughout the day after setting the highs early, by Monday night we will likely see readings in the single digits and teens below zero. Tuesday will struggle to reach the teens in many areas. This will likely continue through the week with a warm up to near seasonal levels by Friday.
SNOW CHANCES LOOKING FROSTY: Outside of a storm that will skirt the southeastern counties tomorrow, the weather pattern will turn dry once again. This may last for quite a while with no real storm systems in the offing for perhaps over a week to ten days. Another plunge of arctic weather around the 10th or so of January may be our next chance of any measurable snow to the state along with another storm a few days after that. We’ll have to wait and see if this pattern continues because what we have on the ground now, isn’t going to be enough for the farmers coming spring planting.
