MERRY CHRISTMAS: Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone today. The weather will be more the merrier with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the single digits northwest to teens to lower 20s south and east with light winds.

FRIDAY SNOW: GFS is not very bullish on the storm that will move through the state this coming Thursday night into Friday. This run shows some light snow across the area that may produce an inch or two but nothing more. This would cause some travel issues especially on the country roads that currently are difficult but not impossible to travel on after the blizzard last week. If the storm was to phase with another that will be moving across the Gulf Coast at the same time, more snow than being depicted is possible. We’ll have to wait and see on this one. Temperatures up to Friday will remain mainly in the teens for highs and lows a few degrees either side of 0.

MODERATING TREND: There is a trend forming out into the new year and it won’t be a good one for those that want to keep the snow on the ground. There could be a warming trend into the first week of January across the state. With the snow pack currently on the ground, it will take a lot to get some of it melted. The model is showing readings possibly well into the 30s after New Year’s. This would undoubtedly bring fog to the state and we’ll have to watch out for that. This may change again on future runs so stay tuned.
