PROGRESSING ALONG: The weather pattern continues with quick moving systems and lack of any precipitation for the next few days, at least until the weekend. Highs today will be in the upper 30s northeast to middle 50s southwest, with mostly to partly sunny skies. Clouds will increase tonight with the next system moving closer. Readings will fall into the 30s to near 40 and then hold steady or slowly rise. Thursday will see some isolated showers move through with a cold front. Readings will be held down do to the cloud cover expected, with highs in the upper 40s to middle 50s across the state.
JUST ANOTHER SNOWY SUNDAY: Yes, I wrote snow and yes I wrote Sunday and yes there could be some snow in the state that day and it could be enough to actually bring about a few advisories if the model is correct. The 00z GFS snowfall forecast (not shown on video) shows possibly 2-5″ of snow across the state by the end of the storm early Monday. The heaviest accumulations would be across the northwest and western counties of the state at this time, but this could change. As this would be the first big snow of the year, travel could be treacherous so this would be a good time to make sure you have your winter emergency kit in your car. Even if this storm fails to materialize, this is a reminder now to get prepared for the coming winter. It’s not going to be record highs like Monday all winter long. COLD COLDER COLDEST: The pattern does turn colder toward the middle of the month but as mentioned in the model madness post yesterday, there isn’t much of any trend regarding precipitation at this time to have any confidence in mentioning it. We have a storm this weekend to worry about first before getting involved with anything that will come thereafter.
