…AREAS OF DENSE FOG ARE POSSIBLE THIS EVENING…

AS THE SUN SETS…DENSE FOG MAY RAPIDLY FORM IN PORTIONS OFEASTERN IOWA…WHILE CLOUDY SKIES IN OTHER LOCATIONS KEEP THE FOG FROM GETTING TOO DENSE. IF TRAVELING…KEEP IN MIND THAT VISIBILITY MAY RAPIDLY DROP TO LESS THAN 1/4 MILE IN SHORT DISTANCES THIS EVENING.
…DENSE FOG IS ON THE INCREASE…

PLAN ON PATCHY DENSE FOG THROUGH EARLY EVENING FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA AND EXTREME NORTHEAST IOWA. THE MAIN THREAT AREA IS EAST OF HIGHWAY 52…TO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER RIDGETOPS. THIS INCLUDES I-90 WHERE WEATHER OBSERVERS HAVE REPORTED DENSE FOG NEAR CHATFIELD LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS…HELPING TO BREAK UP THE FOG. HOWEVER…IF VISIBILITIES CONTINUE TO FALL…AND WIDESPREAD DENSE FOG FORMS…A DENSE FOG ADVISORY WILL BE NEEDED.

MOTORISTS SHOULD DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND ALLOW ADDITIONAL TRAVEL TIME. USE CAUTION TURNING ONTO HIGHWAYS AS ONCOMING TRAFFIC MAY BE TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR THE CONDITIONS. USE LOW BEAMS…REDUCE DRIVING SPEED…AND ALLOW FOR PLENTY OF ROOM BETWEEN YOU AND OTHER CARS.
