The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is currently monitoring Iowa for a 40% chance of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch over the next couple of hours. Isolated Severe Thunderstorms are possible over North/Central Iowa through 11pm (05z) tonight.
Severe Thunderstorms over Nebraska are continuing to move rapidly into Western Iowa packing with them damaging winds and isolated large hail. MUCAPE values ranging from 200-600 exist across portions of Northern Iowa as they continue to decrease as temperatures drop. Nonetheless…sufficient cold pools may exist across the area for a isolated hail/wind event as these storms continue to move Northeast in advance of a Cold Front. The Storm Prediction Center will continue to monitor trends and will issue a watch if warranted.
