SLOWLY WARMING: It is going to get warmer the next few days. More sunshine along with breezy southerly winds will bring temperatures back into the 50s and 60s to end the work week and head into the weekend ahead of the storm system that will bring drastic changes for the weekend into next week.

WEEKEND STORM: The storm is still on track for the weekend with some scattered showers possible Saturday with more numerous activity coming Saturday evening into Sunday across the state. Some of the storms on Saturday could be strong to severe with any threat mainly coming from damaging straight line winds and perhaps some large hail also. The main window for precipitation from the 00z GFS looks to be 9pm Saturday night through Midnight Monday Morning. Rainfall could be significant with three quarters to an inch and a quarter possible. There will be a big drop in temperatures on Monday behind the front with highs struggling to get out of the 30s in many areas with north to northwesterly winds.

FARTHER ALONG: The cold air lasts through at least mid week next week before winds turn southerly and temperatures warm back toward 50 degrees once again. Another storm is possible next Friday but this could miss most of the state to the south. We’ll keep tabs on that storm to see if this moves in our direction in future model runs. Thanksgiving right now still looks mainly dry and seasonal but we’ve seen about everything for the past two days so we can’t make a forecast just yet for Turkey Day.
