The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a possible area of severe weather for Saturday (day 5) across most of the region including nearly the whole state of Iowa. With a storm system ejecting out of the southwest Friday and the difference between southerly winds at the surface and southwesterly winds aloft, there could be ample shear for some thunderstorms to become severe in the area. There are still many questions that need to be answered however with regards to this potential event and we’ll have to wait at least 24-48 hours for a better idea on the threat for Saturday.
