WARM BREEZY DAY: A big turnaround from this past weekend for today with breezy warm temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s across the state. This will be ahead of a cold front that will swing into the state Monday night into Tuesday with some widely scattered showers. The rain amounts will remain light with many locations getting a few hundredths at most perhaps up to a tenth of an inch.
BIG WEEKEND STORM: The weather will be tranquil Wednesday through Friday with some breezy conditions returning on Friday ahead of the next storm system that will be ejecting out of the southwest Friday into Saturday. This storm right now will need to be watched in the next couple of days. There is a good chance to see some showers and thunderstorms beginning late Friday night in the SW and throughout the entire state on Saturday into Saturday night. Rainfall could be substantial and there could also be a threat of some possible severe weather as well perhaps just to our south and southwest however.
BLUE NORTHER: The GFS is still showing a big plunge of much colder air as an omega block forms in the western part of the continent. This would push warm air well into the the Yukon and Northwestern Canada and allow cold air from the Arctic to spill southward into the midwest and the east. We’ve seen this for a few days and we’ll continue to monitor to see if this trend continues in future model runs.
