COLD AND RAIN: Prior to the colder and rainy weather on Thursday we’ll see two more days of dry and warm weather in the state. Readings in the 70s and 80s will be quite common. With the dry ground and warm temperatures there could be a risk of wildfires especially in western Iowa, so be aware of that. The front with the colder temperatures and rainfall will move through Thursday into early Friday. The GFS has some rain possible into Friday morning in the southern quarter of the state with clearing late. Readings Thursday will be in the 60s with falling temperatures into the afternoon.

OCTOBER COOL WEEKEND: The coming weekend will be sunny with very cool temperatures in the 50s and lower 60s across the state. Lows will be down into the 20s and lower to middle 30s thus a hard freeze is possible for the entire state this weekend. If you weren’t effected by the frost and freeze conditions a few weeks ago, you likely will be this time around.

INTO MID OCTOBER: The wonderful world of Model Voo-Doo continues into the middle of the month with no real trends outside seasonal to slightly warmer than seasonal temperatures by the middle of the month. Some rain showers are possible but they look few and far between at this time. Again, this will change daily.
