The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn and Washington counties effective from 4-8am Sunday. There is also a freeze warning from 1am until 8am for Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek. The Weather Service in Des Moines has extended the freeze warning from 1-8am for Jasper, Mahaska, Marion, Polk and Poweshiek. They’ve also issued a Frost Advisory for Appanoose, Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Lucas, Madison, Monroe, Ringgold, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne for the same time period. There is also a frost advisory for Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and Van Buren from 4-8am as well.
As mentioned earlier today, this will effectively end the growing season in a large part of the state. Make sure to either coer your plants that are outdoors or bring them inside. Readings will quickly warm by mid morning Sunday.
