A Red Flag Warning is in effect today for a large portion of Iowa, namely west of a Lamoni to Des Moines to Waterloo to Cresco line. This will last through the evening hours. These areas will experience breezy conditions on top of low relative humidity and warmer than average temperatures to create dangerous fire conditions. With crops nearing or having past mature stage and beginning to dry out any fire that begins will spread quite quickly. The winds will begin to die down later this evening, but the threat will remain into tomorrow as well before a cold front moves in with some possible rainfall.
