The IWR will return Wednesday morning.
Temperatures will continue to warm over the coming days ahead of a cold front that will move into the state late Wednesday night through Friday. This front will bring some scattered showers and thunderstorms to the state during that time. Some of the rainfall from this system will be quite heavy with an inch of rain likely across most of the state with some isolated heavier totals approaching 2 inches.
This system will move off to the east by midday on Friday bringing some slightly cooler albeit only briefly before temperatures moderate back to near seasonal levels for Mid September. Another push of cooler air will come the middle of next week with some showers and possibly a thunderstorm at that time as well.
Crop Report came out Monday afternoon and showed some slight improvement with regards to the corn and soybean crop in the state. Corn was at 52% poor or very poor with Soybeans at 37% poor or very poor. Range and pasture land that had been over 90%+ poor of very poor was down to 77% this week. Some decent rains over the last week helped out with that, but now it’s actually time for some dry time for farmers to get out in the fields and get their crops in as quickly as they can.
