SEVERE WEATHER MOVING OUT: Even though there is a slight risk of severe weather for mainly this morning into this afternoon in the far eastern counties, the main threats look to remain in Illinois eastward through the day, although anyone traveling east and SE today will need to keep an eye to the sky and local media turned on for any possible warnings in those areas.

COOLER WEATHER: We are going to have more fall or should we say September like weather across the state over the next couple of days. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms may skim the state late Thursday night into Friday but otherwise it will be mostly sunny with highs in the 70s to lower 80s.

TAILGATE: The weather looks great for any tailgating in Iowa City or Cedar Falls this weekend. A cool morning will give way to a pleasantly warm afternoon of football with no weather issues to speak of.

WARMING BACK: The GFS is now hinting that we might be heading back to warmer than average readings toward the middle of the month once more, perhaps a last hurrah of the summer gone by. We’ll continue to watch to see if this continues on future runs, as we’ve seen a lot of scenarios over the last few days.
