STILL WATCHING: The next few days will be tranquil across the state. There could be an isolated shower or storm near the Iowa MN border today but chances are slim at best. Elsewhere it will remain warm and some what humid with the rainfall we’ve seen recently. Temperatures will be in the 80s and 90s through the end of the week. Depending on what Isaac does will determine what will be forecast beginning Friday through late on Saturday and perhaps even Sunday. HPC has possible rainfall of at least a half inch south of a Davenport to Washington to Centerville line mainly for Friday night into Saturday with the edge of the remnant of Isaac. This may still change to a drier solution which would see readings and the weather continuing into the Labor Day weekend from the prior days. The next chance of rain would then come from a cold front Sunday into Monday with some showers and storms along that but this could be effected by Isaac as well given the possibility of little moisture with the system in question.
CROP IMPROVING: The crop report was released yesterday afternoon (see video for the latest). It did show some slight improvement in the corn and especially in soybean fields across the state. Soil moisture improved as well but still is short or very short in many areas. The drought monitor that comes out on Thursday is likely to show some improvement with the amount of rain many in the southeastern half of the state saw, with other areas likely seeing continued or possibly even worse drought conditions.
