ATTENTION ON ISAAC: This will be the system to watch regardless of whether it effects the state or not. Right now there are more signs pointing to effecting the state than not, but this is a VERY fluid situation. Right now Isaac as of this post was still a Tropical Storm in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico with winds of 65mph sustained. It was moving to the WNW at 14mph. The official track has it making landfall near Buras LA (aka the mouth of the MS River) Tuesday evening and then moving NW over New Orleans on Wednesday and continuing northward as a depression near Jonesboro AR by Friday evening. Now this is where the fun begins, the GFS on 5 straight runs 00z yesterday through the 00z run today has continued to show the storm moving farther west and farther north than the NHC track. The latest GFS run has the system in western MO north of Joplin on Friday evening moving NE to near Hannibal MO by Saturday. On this track, rain could occur across the southeastern third of the state albeit light and scattered at best with a few gusty winds possible. This is a big IF however and the storm could miss the state entirely to the east. If that happens the entire week will stay dry and warm with highs in the 80s and 90s similar to today and tomorrow. The next chance of rain would come possibly after the Labor Day Holiday then, but right now Isaac is going to control what weather we’re going to get and until we can precisely tell anyone where the system is going to go and when it’s going to get there, we won’t be able to put anything into concrete for the latter half of this week and into the first part of the Labor Day Holiday.

IN SEPTEMBER: After Labor day and the Isaac mystery, the weather looks seasonal with a few chances of showers and thunderstorms with some fronts coming in from the northwest. Again, we’ll know more about this after we get Isaac out of the way.
