WEEKEND RAIN: Best chances of rain are now looking like Saturday into Sunday across the state. Rainfall is looking a bit better with this system as well with some half to one inch totals possible with isolated totals heavier than that mainly in western Iowa. Temperatures will be warm again today with 80s and 90s across the state with cooler air coming behind this system for next week, albeit more seasonal.

ISAAC: The troublesome tropical storm Isaac has been having the models going nuts the last 24-48 hours. Farther and farther west the models have tracked and now the storm looks to make a “POSSIBLE” landfall at Mobile Bay sometime Tuesday night. Note “POSSIBLE” this could easily change several more times today and into the weekend so there’s nothing concrete at this time. The GFS and the NHC offical track are nearly identical (see video) The NAM is too far east (which it’s been doing for this system all along) and the EURO has been way too far west (the 12z run has it between OKC and Wichita in ten days heading towards Iowa! as a remnant) Impacts on Iowa look to be minimal, but most likely next week is going to be dry with no systems approaching until after Isaac makes up its mind where it wants to go after landfall.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND: The forecast for the holiday weekend is up in the air as well with Isaac taking most of next weeks weather, there could be some rain chances interspersed throughout the weekend, but we need to get rid of Isaac first before we can really pinpoint any rain chances even after the middle to end of next week at this point.
