THE WEEK AHEAD: Slowly warming temperatures through the week ahead of the next cold front that will move into the state Thursday into Friday. The front hangs up and there could be a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms into the weekend as well with readings in the upper 70s into the 80s through the last weekend in August. Rainfall amounts could be anywhere between one and three quarters of an inch with some isolated heavier totals with heavier thunderstorms.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND: GFS is showing the chance that we could get one last hurrah of heat around this holiday weekend and it could bring back widespread 90s if this pans out. This is the first time we’ve seen it at least on the 00z run. We’ll check throughout the day on the 6,12,18z runs to see if it continues before going ahead with a more concrete answer on that. If it does pan out. It looks to be hot and relatively dry with spotty chances of showers and thunderstorms once again. The ridge will move west after the weekend into the first full week of September so any heat that does occur will be short lived at this point.
