SUMMER LOVIN: People could be singing the song from Grease today with temperatures in the 80s at least in the eastern half of the state. However the heat is coming back in the west with lower to middle 90s in that area. It will be sunny, however a small disturbance may spark a shower or storm Monday night into Tuesday morning across the state. Most places will remain dry, but there is a chance nonetheless.

SEASONAL: A few warm days will be replaced later in the week with cooler and more pleasant days similar to Sunday with temperatures in the upper 70s to middle 80s statewide by late this week into the following weekend. There is another spotty rain chance Wednesday night into Thursday morning with a disturbance rotating around a strengthening trough that will be digging through the eastern half of the country. This will put the state in a northwesterly flow and keep most of the heat to our south and west. The first few days of the state fair look to be spectacular with readings in the lower 80s for highs Thursday through the weekend.

NO EXTREME HEAT: Even farther into the month there looks to be no sign of returning heat that we had most of the month of July at this time according to the GFS. It also looks that we may get more rainfall over the next two weeks as well with a more active pattern setting up. We’ll see if this pans out on both fronts.
