The August outlook from the Climate Prediction Center is out and it doesn’t look promising across the state with regards to rainfall. There is a 60% probability of above average temperatures for the month and a 40% probability of below average precipitation. With many corn crops starting to turn brown in some areas, any rainfall now is too little too late for them. CPC does show warmer than average temperatures into the Fall and Winter as well with precipitation slowly returning close to average by Winter. This could change however, and the persistent drought conditions are likely to continue for several more months at this time.
