EXCESSIVE HEAT: Several days of very hot weather in store for the state and region. Excessive heat warnings are in effect beginning this weekend and lasting well into next week for a large portion of the state. Several more counties may be included in the warning or in a heat advisory later this weekend into next week. Temperatures will be well into the 90s and triple digits across the state. There could be some isolated shower and thunderstorm activity mainly across the northern and northeastern counties that will build statewide by mid-week, but we’ll have to keep an eye on whether or not this will go away on future runs.

RAGBRAI: It’s going to be a hot ride beginning Sunday in western Iowa. The ride from Sioux Center to Cherokee on Sunday will see upper 90s and perhaps a few triple digits along the way. No relief in store for most of the ride as it moves eastward across the state this week.
