HEAT WAVE END: The heat wave is beginning to come to an end with one hot today in store today and a semi-hot day for Saturday with a slight chance of some showers and thunderstorms at that time. Right now the chances are looking worse than they did yesterday with the QPF chart showing almost nothing across the entire state over the next five days. This is rather disconcerting with the worsening drought conditions across the state. There will be a chance of rain again on Sunday as the cold front moves across the state but again, it’s not looking too good at this time. We can’t rule out that some places could get some significant rain from any of the thunderstorm chances this weekend, but they will be very isolated at this point.

COOLING BACK: Temperatures next week look to remain near seasonal levels, but it will also remain dry once again. This will be of no help to the crops that are in need of at least an inch or more of water a week at this time. Even though temperatures will be cooler next week, with the continued dry conditions, the drought will only worsen until we see a widespread pattern change.
