RAIN THIS WEEKEND: System is still on target for the state this weekend with showers and thunderstorms. Could there be some severe weather, it’s a bit up in the air right now. Most of the severe weather parameters seem to point at western Iowa Saturday night into Sunday morning for the risk, but we’ll have to wait for the Storm Prediction Center outlook on whether or not they outlook an area. The eastern counties get a chance Sunday before the system moves off to the east. Rainfall from this system looks to be about a half inch with heavier amounts in thunderstorms.
DRY WEEK THEREAFTER: High Pressure will be in control for most of the week next week with sunny skies and seasonal readings. A few blips in the week occur toward the end with some slight chances of rain mainly Friday. Too early to determine any chances of possible severe weather until we draw closer to that time period.
JULY 4TH: GFS continues to show the possibility of some showers and or thunderstorms across the state and region. Although at this time trends are looking more and more likely to see this chance decrease with runs as the main storm system we had seen in earlier runs has slowed down and is further to the north and northwest.
