STORMY WEEKEND: Severe weather continues to be a threat through the weekend. A slight risk of severe weather has been outlooked for nearly all of the state for today and mainly for tonight. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging winds. Any tornado threat will be mainly confined to the Siouxland region during the evening hours. Heavy rain is possible as well with these storms if they train over the same areas or move slowly over an area. Some flash flooding is possible with some of these storms. On Sunday the severe weather threat begins to move out of the state but not without a slight risk of severe weather for the far eastern counties of the state. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats with these storms and will likely be moving out of the state during the evening hours.
COOLING OFF: Temperatures will drop off into the 60s to lower 70s to begin the new work week, but there still could be some isolated shower activity Monday and Tuesday. Skies will eventually turn sunny and readings will slowly rise into the 70s by the end of the week.
FARTHER INTO MAY: Not seeing any concrete patterns with the GFS at this time, the model is showing a low dropping down out of Canada the day after Mother’s Day which could bring some rainfall and cooler readings for a time, followed by a quick warm up, otherwise we’ll keep watching for any possible changes in future videos.
