OFF THE CREST: No more record highs for a while nor any 80s and 90s at least for a week or more. Readings today across the state will range in the 60s to lower 70s with a northerly breeze. The wind will shift toward the east by tonight into Friday with an approaching storm that will bring some rain and possibly embedded thunderstorms through Saturday. Temperatures Friday and Saturday will be in the 40s and 50s, possibly low 60s in far southern Iowa near the Missouri border. Friday night into Saturday morning, it may get cold enough for some of the rain north of US Hwy 20 to mix with some wet snow. If this occurs, there will be no accumulation.

MOVIN’ ON UP: Next week temperatures rebound back into the mid 60s to mid 70s across the state, however more rain is also forecast which will be beneficial given the drought conditions in NW Iowa and the abnormally dry conditions in SE Iowa.

STORMS TO WATCH: A few storms on this run past the seven day period look interesting including one on the 10th that if it pans out could bring some severe weather to the state. We’ll keep a watch and look for any trends. Most of the other systems look to be weak and fast moving with a zonal flow over the country over the first week and a half of May.
