QUIET WEEK AHEAD: It’s going to be cooler and a bit more calm after a active weekend which saw several tornadoes skip across the state and one day where severe weather didn’t make an appearance. Today will be breezy and cooler with readings in the 50s. (Most places will have seen their high during the early morning today). Some showers are possible but only 20-30% chance at that. Tuesday will see some partly to mostly sunny skies but temperatures remain in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Some rain Wednesday into Thursday will move through but readings stay in the 50s and 60s throughout the week.

END OF APRIL: The month looks to end actively once again with several systems possibly making their way to the state. First off there’s two systems, about 4 days apart at the end of the month that have some similarities to the system that has just moved by. No, we can’t project severe weather 10 days out, but we need to keep an eye on this system for any trends. Right now it looks to be weaker (1004mb compared to 988mb with the last system) and a bit further to the southeast. Another storm follows that one to end the month and begin May. This one is over two weeks out but we’ll continue looking for trends on this one as well.

HUNDRED THOUSAND: The Iowa Weather Blog reached 100,000 page views (since 2008) on Saturday (around 10pm) during our severe weather coverage. We had plenty of response to the chat room format along with blogging. Thank you again.
