QUIET TIME: Even though the threat of showers and storms didn’t materialize yesterday, another storm is in the offing late Thursday night into Friday. Until then it will be mostly sunny with readings still above average for this time of year. Temperatures in the 60s and 70s will be common across the state.

SEVERE AGAIN?: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for Thursday afternoon and evening for areas southwest of a Sioux City to Leon line. The main threats look to be from large hail and damaging winds, however given the higher STP (Significant Tornado Parameter) an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. The storms will congeal during the late evening and overnight and move across the southern half of the state. The storms will likely be non-severe by that point.

ROLLER COASTER TEMPS: The rest of the model run shows some swings in the temperatures over the next two weeks with some cold snaps followed by warm ups back to the 60s. Several chances of showers and thunderstorms will be possible beginning again this coming weekend and the first week in April. Remember that we can still have cold nights well into May so these cold snaps are typical in a rather atypical weather pattern.
