NEXT SYSTEM: The next chance of rain will move into the state late Monday into Tuesday. Until then, today will see abundant sunshine with temperatures well into the 60s and 70s. Monday will see clouds increase with some showers and thunderstorms moving in. Some severe weather is possible across the far western and northwestern counties late Monday night. Large hail and damaging winds would be the main threats with any storms there. Tuesday afternoon could see some isolated strong storms over the eastern and central counties with the cold front moving through the state at that time.

HELLO APRIL: April comes in and the warm air looks to have met its match a few days into the new month. As we mentioned on yesterday’s discussion a cold front will move into the region on the 3rd and 4th, bringing with it showers and thunderstorms. It will also bring some MUCH colder air to the state. Some of the coldest air we’ve seen since February. A few days after the passage of the front, the model brings a disturbance through that may bring some wet snow or cold rain, dependent on the air temperatures. This would certainly be a BIG change from what we’ve been seeing lately. This is only the second day in a row we’ve seen this much colder pattern in April, further runs will be needed for further confidence.
