Monday Severe WX Outlook

This is the first real severe thunderstorm chance that we are getting to report on. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has posted a slight risk of Severe Weather for a large portion of Iowa for Monday (Day 3 Outlook).

Though this threat seems rather low for our immediate viewing area, Strong storms still do appear possible as the area may become destabilized mid to late Monday. The primary threat will be large hail and damaging winds. I am not ruling out tornadoes due to several signs, mainly shear. Heavy Rainfall will also will be likely with these storms, however, it will be welcomed with happiness as some areas of the state are currently seeing moderate to severe drought.

The only questionable item with this storm is a fairly low chance of instability on Monday. However, several signs, mainly shear, indicate that this set of storms will need to be monitored throughout the day.

Storms are currently being planned to fire up mid to late evening. Severe potential, if any, is expected to gas up the thunderstorms later in the evening. Instability will be the main focus through the night and will be monitored all day tomorrow and into Monday.

Stay tuned for further updates.
