All of Iowa, Winter Weather

Changes to Advisories, Warnings etc.

Big changes have occurred overnight across the state. The Winter Storm Watch has been cancelled in the eastern counties of the state by the NWS in La Crosse and Quad Cities. The Winter Storm Warning has been trimmed slightly in central Iowa with Winter Weather Advisories continuing. The Winter Storm Warning has been expanded slightly over NW Iowa.

This is a very fluid situation regarding when it’s going to snow, how much is going to fall and in some cases if the precipitation is going to start out as either a mix or some rain. Models have gone all over the place with this even with the storm upon the state. There still could be a chance to see some significant snowfall especially across the northwestern counties, but outside that area, it’s still up in the air. If any snow falls especially east of Interstate 35 it should range between 1-3″ with isolated heavier totals. To the west and northwest, amounts could reach 5″+. Stay tuned as this could change during the day.
