HOT!: It was a very warm day, if not HOT for January standards with highs well into the 50s and 60s due to the dry ground and lack of any significant cloudiness across the state. A cold front will move through the state by the morning hours that will keep temperatures from approaching these levels but we’ll still see some 40s to lower 50s across the state with some northwesterly winds.

COOLING OFF: It does cool off through the weekend back into the 30s in fact, before rising back into the 40s by the middle of next week. A more significant cold front arrives Wednesday night into Thursday with a slight chance of a flurry at best, but it’ll likely come through dry with only breezy conditions following and temperatures heading back to the 20s to near 30 for highs.

SNOW?: There is a better chance of snow, but it’s about ten days away and that still isn’t a certainty at this point. This model run shows that this storm in ten days time will be with another plunge of cold air from Canada in combination with a system coming up from the southwest. There may be enough moisture that some rain and snow will be possible changing to all snow as the cold front moves through, but again don’t get your hopes up just yet. It is still past the 7 day period where confidence is much better. We’ll keep an eye on it however.
