Record Highs abounded today across the state and the upper Midwest. Some of these records that were broken were over 100 years old.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 59 DEGREES WAS SET AT CEDAR RAPIDS IA TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 54 SET IN 1956.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 58 DEGREES WAS TIED AT BURLINGTON IA TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 58 SET IN 1900.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 57 DEGREES WAS SET AT MOLINE IL TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 55 SET IN 1956.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 54 DEGREES WAS SET AT DUBUQUE IA TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 51 DEGREES SET IN 1916.

SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS BROUGHT UNPRECEDENTED WARM WEATHER TO THE NORTH CENTRAL UNITED STATES TODAY…WITH MOST LOCATIONS RECORDING NEW RECORD HIGHS FOR JANUARY 5. SEVERAL CITIES IN NORTH AND SOUTH DAKOTA RECORDED ALL TIME RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. BELOW ARE A LISTING OF SOME OF THE SITES THAT ESTABLISHED NEW DAILY RECORD HIGHS.
