SNOW OR NO SNOW: There will be some snow across the far southern counties of the state late tonight and especially on Tuesday. The amounts are still all over the place but the best estimation now indicates around 1-2″ with possibly heavier totals over SW Iowa. There may be a dusting up to IA Hwy 92 and little if any snow north of that. This could still change slightly, but it looks like the northern half of the state won’t see a white Christmas this year.
BECOMING QUIET: The weather pattern goes quiet once again after the storm with a slight chance of a few flurries Thursday and Friday with no accumulations and no real cold snaps coming down from the Arctic. Temperatures will remain at or near seasonal levels at least through the holiday weekend and into the following week. Temperatures look to warm slightly by the beginning of the year with the possibility of some rain snow mix around the 3rd of January but that’s still a ways out.
