RAINY WEDNESDAY: A very wet and miserable day today with rain, some of it moderate to heavy at times across the state. There may be a few rumbles of thunder as well, with the best chance of that occurring mainly in the southeastern half of the state during the afternoon hours. Temperatures today will range from the 30s across northwestern Iowa, to the 50s across the southeast. Cold air wins the war as it takes over later tonight into Thursday with seasonal readings to finish out the week. Highs in the 30s and lows in the teens to lower 20s.
POSSIBLE MISS?: The latest model run shows the early week storm next week, may miss most of the state. Only the far southern and southeastern counties may get a crack at any precipitation. However, this is still a fluid situation and may change. This is likely the best chance through Christmas of seeing any snow across the state.
CHRISTMAS: Currently, this run shows that Christmas is likely to be quiet and cool, with readings in the 20s to around 30° under partly to mostly sunny skies.
