LIGHT SNOW: There will be some light snow and/or flurry activity today across the state. The best chance of seeing any accumulation will be along and south of IA Hwy 92. Accumulations will be light with many places seeing less than a half inch of snow, however some locales may get up to an inch. The snow will be out of the state by later tonight with Friday and the upcoming weekend being dry and mostly sunny with temperatures in the 20s for highs to start and 30s to near 40° by Sunday.

NO EXCITEMENT: Looking further into next week and the month, there doesn’t look to be much of any real big winter storms effecting the region. This model run shows a few chance of some light snow or flurries similar to today’s event, with some pushes of cold air from Canada. These are then followed by a rebound back to seasonal norms within a few days. Toward the end of the period an upper level feature is situated in the Desert Southwest. We’ll have to see if this makes a track northeastward in our direction and if it continues to be seen on future runs. In any case, if we have a white Christmas, there may be little if any snow on the ground for it as it looks now (outside of the NW counties)
