WARM TODAY: It will be warm and breezy with highs in the 50s to lower 60s. There could some morning fog across the eastern counties of the state that will quickly burn off my mid-morning. The warm conditions will continue into Friday as well for Shoppers, with the chance of rain holding off now until the evening and overnight hours.

SHARPLY COLDER: Of course temperatures in the 50s and 60s can’t last forever in late November, and in this case it won’t. Temperatures will drop sharply Saturday evening with rain changing to a mix or all snow before ending Sunday morning. Little if any accumulation is possible. The storm now is expected to move off to the east instead of hanging back over the next several days. That will dry things out for the first part of next week. However, confidence on this is not good given the run to run of the models. We’ll keep an eye on it.

DECEMBER: Right now, the first week of December looks quiet with little activity occurring across the state. Temperatures look to remain near seasonal levels. Good thing is no arctic outbreak, bad thing, no big snow for the skiers and snowmobilers quite yet.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone from the Iowa Weather Blog.
