NEAR MISS: The state will be just south of a significant snow band across South Dakota and Minnesota with the storm system that will be moving through the state today. We may see a few showers with this system but the chances are slight and any rain that falls will be light (less than a tenth of an inch). Temperatures will cool back into the 30s to lower 40s on Sunday with a slow warm up toward Thanksgiving.

THANKSGIVING: The holiday is looking really good with the only fault being the breezy south to southwesterly winds around 15-25mph. This will boost temperatures well into the 50s across the state. Wouldn’t be surprised if some locales hit 60. This will continue into Black Friday as well with a slight chance of some rainfall on Friday night. Friday morning will be in the 30s, a far cry from last year when it was in the teens.

ARCTIC OUTBREAK?: Models continue to show a possible arctic outbreak just past the first of December. If this holds true, this may bring the first readings at or below zero in two weeks time. It’s still too early to determine the strength of this possible cold snap this far out or whether it will be on consecutive model runs.
