It was very cold across the northern and especially the northwestern counties of the state this morning. Temperatures dropped into the single digits and teens across areas north of Interstate 80 (outside urban heat islands). Sheldon and Le Mars fell to 3° this morning, while Fort Madison was the warmest this morning at 25°. Temperatures tonight will be much warmer with readings remaining in the 20s and lower 30s with steady or slowly rising temperatures. Readings on Friday will be in the 50s statewide with southerly winds.
