WINDY WEEKEND: The wind will be the main weather factor this weekend across the state. A storm system will be tracking to our north taking most of the moisture along with it. Only the wind will be seen across the state with gusts likely over 40mph Saturday into Saturday night. Lighter winds on Sunday will still gust well over 30mph at times. There is a very slight shot at a shower Sunday afternoon with the cold front moving through the state.

MIDWEEK STORM: The next shot at widespread precipitation looks to come late Monday through Wednesday with a storm system moving in from the Desert Southwest. There may be enough cold air Wednesday that some of the rain may mix with and change over to snow across the eastern half of the state. Ground temperatures look to remain warm enough to keep most of any snow that may fall off the roadways. Any snow that falls on grassy areas will melt fairly soon after (similar to the last storm over western Iowa). The storm will depart the state late Wednesday with near seasonal readings through the weekend.

MORE ACTIVITY: The model continues to show a cold pool of air coming southward into the Continental United States in just over two weeks time. We’ll see what becomes of this possible cold snap toward the middle to end of November.

NOTE: Class 1A,2A and 3A Quarterfinals are on Monday night and a forecast for those games will be forthcoming on the Monday video.
