POSSIBLE SVR WX: There is a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the Siouxland region south and westward into Kansas and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. The best chance for severe weather will remain in KS, OK and TX, but any storms that may fire up here may have large hail and damaging winds during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

RAIN SLOW TO MOVE: The rain chances will continue throughout the weekend across the western counties of the state as different disturbances move up through the Plains. This will lead to some hefty amounts of rain across the western and northwestern sections of the state where 1-2″ of rain could be possible. Rainfall amounts taper drastically east of Interstate 35 where a tenth of an inch or less is possible over the next five days.

ACTIVE WX: The weather pattern still looks like it will become active as the jet stream will be directly overhead during the middle toward the end of the month. This will be a parade of storm systems with chances of showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms every few days. We’ll see if this continues on future runs as 43% of the state is in Moderate or Severe Drought.
