Another book written about the 2008 flood in Cedar Rapids, takes us beyond not just the flooding but into the personal lives of those that were effected by the flood physically and mentally. Through the neighborhoods and businesses of Time Check, Ellis and Czech Village.
Stephen J. Lyons takes the reader on a tour of what the people went through and what they were still going through even a year later (in 2009 and beyond). Although some of the book may be antiquated due to events that have transpired since, the book is a good read for those who want a personal view of the flood from those that lived through it. I found the book interesting to show the people beyond what you saw on television. Into the lives many didn’t get to see. Into the neighborhoods that once were vibrant communities of their own and are now no more. A must read for those that want to read more into the impacts of the flood of 2008 from the view of the flood victims.
