TRIPLE H!: It was bound to happen again this summer, the return of TRIPLE H! aka Hazy, hot and humid. A Heat Advisory has been issued through Tuesday across the western 3/4ths of the state although it will likely be expanded after this posting. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to mid 90s across the state over the next 3 days with heat indices approaching or exceeding 105°. The heat will end Tuesday afternoon and evening with the passage of a cold front that will also bring the next chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area.

RIDGE V TROUGH: After the passage of the front on Tuesday and another shot of rain on Thursday a battle line will begin to be drawn that will continue past the 7 day period into voodoo. This will involve a western ridge centered in the desert southwest versus a trough over the eastern Great Lakes and Canada. By the end of the forecast period (on this model run) it shows a large trough over the east and a heat ridge pumping up over the southwest into the Plains and Canada. We’ll be in a northwesterly flow which could bring us readings that we haven’t seen in a while, we’ll see if this holds out.
