RAIN AND SEVERE: There are some slight risks of severe weather over the next two days over the northern sections of the state. The main threat will be from damaging straight line winds. (See video for threat areas each day) A frontal boundary which brought some pleasant weather and some rainfall to the northern counties will be visiting the state for several more days bringing several rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts through this weekend could add up to 1-2 inches with some higher amounts in areas that receieve heavier thunderstorms.

HEAT RETURN: Temperatures next week will start cooler than this past week with near seasonal readings in the 80s, however by the mid to latter half of the week, the heat ridge will bring TRIPLE H weather back to the state, although as of now it doesn’t look to be as severe as this last heat wave earlier this week. Highs will likely be in the lower to middle 90s once again with heat indices well over 100° once more.

FLOODING: Flooding continues along the Missouri River along the western border of Iowa. Good news on the flooding front however, the flood warnings along the Missouri River in North Dakota have been cancelled! NOTE: They were reissued this morning. The river is still above flood stage at Bismarck however releases in this area are being lowered. This is a sign that the end is closing in for these areas. It will still be several more weeks or more before the river falls below flood stage however.
